Term April 16 INTRODUCTION
Tokyo Nomad Girl: THE architect Toyo Ito has a way of understanding the activity of an inhabitant of the city of Tokyo, discovering the mass of users in the city a special character, the girl nomad. The habits of use of the city and their equipment are obsolete for it, it raises a new and different use, this girl has a way to use the city itself. And in a gesture "theoretical" Ito ODP constructs. The viewpoint used stops learning, the ability to re-do from this point of view is not usual to understand something that is so close it can go unnoticed. Conventional services and equipment so far, have a customer for new features, and therefore no longer be the same. The city is recognized as reflecting the needs of people and not just the physical space that accommodates them.
APPROACH
room space can be understood from two inputs:
§
The physical space of the room, ie the container of the activities conducted there, which must be correct in terms of lighting, ventilation, insulation, size, etc.. All extremely specific and important data for the validity of the architecture of the room. But if only we understand the classroom from this point of view, understanding how a space will be generic and nonspecific, designed for an anonymous user, which can only quantify.
§ The second corresponds to understand the room as the set of activities and events that compose it, from the understanding of human group use it. These actions correspond to the "claimant" of conditions for physical space to be configured and spatial quality required will be the source of the design.
- Lo genérico / anónimo / Nonspecific - from the outside in
- particular thing / own / specific - from the inside out
How is the mediation between these points of view to achieve configure and manage the space?
In this regard we ask the question: What should be and what a difference to a classroom of Architecture Workshop, in any other room?
Students must re-organize the space of the classroom Workshop to make it more appropriate to the specific requirements this space.
CUSTOM
Students must reformulate the physical space of the workshop room, considering:
a. - The detailed analysis of requirements of activities and events to be developed in space.
b. - The proposal for the possible spatial permitting, the best way, the development of these acts.
c. - The definition of an intervention by elements that build the required specialties. Emphasis is placed on the resource economy and full coherence of the proposal.
§ During the first session on Monday 05 will discuss the exercise, clarified doubts and then develop a group discussion on the issues, defining teams - from a peak 4 students - and first experiments in order (are asked to bring: huincha / meter, scale ruler, pencils and paper.)
§ On Friday April 16 the different groups of students presented to the section interventions, argue and be accepted or rejected and judged by the whole workshop.
Each group will take a proposal for the total rooms Year 2 workshop, the task is understood as a contest on this space. Should be considered as a client to all workshop students avoiding proposals private or individualistic.
OBJECTIVES
The specific objectives of this exercise are:
- ability to identify events and activities to develop their own a classroom workshop on architecture and space requirements,
- to meet the space requirements of these acts,
- ability to express ideas and their realization in the space re-organized.
DELIVERY
The task is made directly in the room, and will be presented on Friday 16 April at 15:00 hours.
model will receive a group 1: 25 (free material) and at least one sheet to present the arguments and analysis for the proposal.
